**1. Park the vehicle on a flat surface and allow it to cool down.
2. Open the hood of the vehicle.
3. Locate the thermostat housing. It is usually located on the front or side of the engine block.
4. Remove the bolts that hold the thermostat housing in place.
5. Carefully remove the thermostat housing and gasket and check for sediment. If there is any sediment present, clean it up.
6. Check the thermostat. If it is stuck open or closed, replace it with a new one.
7. Replace the gasket and thermostat housing.
8. Reinstall the bolts that hold the thermostat housing in place.
9. Refill the coolant reservoir with a 50/50 mixture of antifreeze and water.
10. Close the hood of the vehicle.
11. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
12. Check the temperature gauge to ensure that the engine is operating at the correct temperature.
