1. Gather your tools and materials. You will need:
* A spark plug wrench
* A ratchet
* A 6-inch extension
* A 5/8-inch spark plug socket
* A gap gauge
* New spark plugs
2. Prepare the engine. Disconnect the battery to turn off the power to the engine, then allow the engine to cool down completely.
3. Locate the spark plugs. The spark plugs are located on the top of the engine, near the front. There are eight spark plugs in total, four on each side of the engine.
4. Remove the old spark plugs. Use the spark plug wrench to loosen the spark plugs, then use the ratchet and extension to remove them. Be careful not to drop the spark plugs into the engine.
5. Check the gap on the new spark plugs. The gap between the center electrode and the ground electrode should be .045 inches. Use the gap gauge to measure the gap, and use a needle-nose pliers to bend the ground electrode if necessary.
6. Install the new spark plugs. Screw in the new spark plugs by hand until they are snug, then use the ratchet and extension to tighten them. Tighten the spark plugs until they are snug, but do not over-tighten them.
7. Reconnect the battery. Reconnect the battery to restore power to the engine, and start the engine. Let the engine run for a few minutes to warm up, then check for any leaks.
That's it! You have now successfully changed the spark plugs in your L98 engine.
