What are the original sources of energy for both coal and wind?

The original source of energy for coal is the Sun. Plants capture the Sun's energy through photosynthesis and convert it into chemical energy stored in their tissues. When these plants die, they are buried underground and over time, they are subjected to heat and pressure. This process, known as coalification, transforms the plant matter into coal. The energy originally captured by the Sun is preserved in the chemical bonds of the coal, which can be released when the coal is burned.

The original source of energy for wind is also the Sun. The Sun's heat unevenly warms the Earth's surface, creating differences in air pressure. As heated air rises, it creates areas of low pressure while the surrounding cooler air moves in to fill the void, resulting in wind. The movement of air masses is what we experience as wind. The energy in the wind comes from the conversion of solar energy into kinetic energy.
