1. Gather the necessary tools and materials
- New oil cooler lines
- Oil filter wrench
- Drain pan
- Funnel
- New oil
- Pliers
- Screwdriver
- Jack and jack stands
2. Prepare your vehicle
- Park your vehicle on a level surface.
- Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
- Engage the parking brake.
- Raise the front of your vehicle with the jack and place the jack stands under the frame.
3. Locate the oil cooler lines
- The oil cooler lines are located on the front of the engine, near the oil filter.
- They are two metal lines that run from the oil filter to the oil cooler.
4. Remove the oil cooler lines
- Use the oil filter wrench to loosen the oil filter.
- Once the oil filter is loose, remove it by hand.
- Place the drain pan under the oil cooler lines.
- Use the pliers to loosen the hose clamps on the oil cooler lines.
- Once the hose clamps are loose, remove the oil cooler lines by hand.
5. Install the new oil cooler lines
- Insert the new oil cooler lines into the oil cooler.
- Secure the oil cooler lines with the hose clamps.
- Tighten the hose clamps with the pliers.
6. Replace the oil filter
- Screw the new oil filter onto the oil filter adapter.
- Tighten the oil filter until it is snug.
7. Add new oil to the engine
- Use the funnel to add new oil to the engine.
- Add the amount of oil specified in your vehicle's owner's manual.
8. Lower your vehicle
- Lower the front of your vehicle with the jack.
- Remove the jack stands.
9. Start the engine
- Start the engine and allow it to run for a few minutes.
- Check for any leaks from the oil cooler lines.
10. Test drive your vehicle
- Take your vehicle for a test drive to ensure that the oil cooler lines are working properly.
Tips:
- When replacing the oil cooler lines, be sure to use new hose clamps. Old hose clamps can become loose and cause leaks.
- When adding new oil to the engine, be sure to use the type of oil specified in your vehicle's owner's manual.
