Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare your car.

• Park your Mazda on a level surface and turn off the engine.

• Engage the parking brake.

• Raise the front of the car with a jack and jack stands, or drive it up on ramps.

Step 2: Drain the coolant.

• Locate the drain plug at the bottom of the radiator (passenger side).

• Place a drain pan under the drain plug and open it with the Phillips head screwdriver.

• Allow all of the coolant to drain from the radiator.

Step 3: Remove the old thermostat.

• The thermostat housing is located on the front of the engine, just above the water pump.

• Use the socket set to remove the bolts holding the thermostat housing in place.

• Carefully remove the thermostat housing and the old thermostat from the engine.

Step 4: Install the new thermostat.

• Insert the new thermostat into the thermostat housing, making sure that the gasket is seated properly.

• Replace the thermostat housing and tighten the bolts.

Step 5: Refill the coolant.

• Use the funnel to add new coolant to the radiator until it is full.

• Replace the radiator cap.

Step 6: Lower your car.

• Carefully lower the front of your car with the jack and jack stands or drive it off of the ramps.

Step 7: Test the thermostat.

• Start your car and let it run for a few minutes.

• Check the temperature gauge to make sure that the engine is not overheating.

Note: It may take several minutes for the new thermostat to open and allow coolant to flow through the engine.
