How do you know if a fuel pump is dead?

There are a few signs that can indicate a failing fuel pump, including:

1. Engine sputtering or hesitation: If the fuel pump is not able to deliver enough fuel to the engine, it can cause the engine to sputter or hesitate. This is most noticeable when accelerating or climbing hills.

2. Stalling: A fuel pump that is completely dead will cause the engine to stall. This can happen while driving or idling.

3. Difficulty starting: A fuel pump that is starting to fail may make it difficult to start the engine. This is because the fuel pump is not able to build up enough pressure to deliver fuel to the engine.

4. Low fuel pressure: A fuel pressure gauge can be used to measure the fuel pressure in the fuel line. If the fuel pressure is below the recommended level, it can be a sign of a failing fuel pump.

5. No fuel getting to the engine: If you press the schrader valve and no fuel squirts out, your fuel pump isn't doing its job at all.
