1. Open the lift gate.
2. Locate the lift gate cylinders. They are located on either side of the lift gate, just below the hinges.
3. Remove the bolts that hold the lift gate cylinders in place. There are two bolts on each cylinder.
4. Remove the lift gate cylinders. Once the bolts are removed, you can simply lift the cylinders out of the brackets.
5. Insert the new lift gate cylinders. Make sure that the new cylinders are installed in the same orientation as the old ones.
6. Replace the bolts. Tighten the bolts until they are snug.
7. Close the lift gate. Test the lift gate to make sure that it operates smoothly.

* If you are not comfortable working on your own vehicle, you can have the lift gate cylinders replaced by a qualified mechanic.
* Be careful when removing and installing the lift gate cylinders. They can be heavy, and you could injure yourself if you drop them.
* Make sure that the new lift gate cylinders are the correct size and type for your vehicle. If you install the wrong cylinders, the lift gate may not operate properly.
