1. Ensure that the key of your vehicle is in the "Off position, and the parking brake is engaged.
2. Lift the hood of your car and locate the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals of the battery.
3. Ensure the jumper cables you'll be using are rated sufficiently to handle the amperage of your vehicle's battery.
4. Connect one end of the red jumper cable to the positive (+) terminal of the dead battery and the other end to the positive (+) terminal of the working battery.
5. Then connect one end of the black jumper cable to the negative (-) terminal of the good battery and the other end to an unpainted metal surface in your engine compartment. This will act as a grounding point.
6. Start the vehicle with the working battery. Let it run for a few minutes.
7. Attempt to start the vehicle with a dead battery.
8. If successful, leave it running for a few minutes to allow its battery to recharge a bit.
9. Disconnect the jumper cables in the reverse order of connection (negative cable first).
10. Let the vehicle with the dead battery run for a while to give the battery a chance to recharge.
11. Once done, ensure to turn off both vehicles and store the jumper cables properly when you are finished.
