1. Park your car on a level surface, turn off the engine, and allow it to cool down completely. Engage the parking brake.
2. Locate the oil drain plug. It is usually located on the bottom of the oil pan.
3. Place an oil drain pan under the oil drain plug.
4. Loosen the oil drain plug using a wrench.
5. Allow the oil to drain completely into the drain pan. This may take a few minutes.
6. Once the oil has drained, replace the oil drain plug and tighten it until it is snug.
7. Locate the oil filter. It is usually located near the top of the engine.
8. Use an oil filter wrench to loosen the oil filter.
9. Remove the oil filter and drain any remaining oil into the drain pan. Be careful not to spill any oil on the engine.
10. Clean the oil filter mating surface on the engine.
11. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
12. Screw the new oil filter onto the engine and tighten it until it is snug. Do not over-tighten the oil filter.
13. Open the hood of your car and locate the oil fill cap. It is usually located on the top of the engine.
14. Remove the oil fill cap and add new oil to the engine. Use the proper type and amount of oil as specified in your owner's manual.
15. Replace the oil fill cap and close the hood of your car.
16. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check for any leaks.
