Here are the steps to replace the crank sensor on a 2000 Cadillac Catera:
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the crank sensor.
4. Use a 10mm wrench to remove the two bolts that hold the crank sensor to the transmission case.
5. Remove the old crank sensor.
6. Install the new crank sensor and tighten the two bolts.
7. Connect the electrical connector to the crank sensor.
8. Reinstall the air cleaner assembly.
9. Connect the negative battery terminal.
*_NOTE: Once the crank sensor has been replaced it will be necessary to reset the PCM._*
Here are the steps to reset the PCM:
1. Turn the key to the "On" position, but do not start the car.
2. Press and hold the gas pedal all the way to the floor for 15 seconds.
3. Turn the key to the "Off" position.
4. Wait 10 seconds.
5. Start the car.
The PCM has now been reset.
