1. Place the motorcycle in neutral.
2. Remove the shift lever by loosening the pinch bolt and sliding it off the splined end of the shaft.
3. Remove the cotter pin from the upper end of the shifter shaft.
4. Pull the shifter shaft out of the gearbox.
Step 2: Install the New Shifter Shaft
1. Slide the new shifter shaft into the gearbox, and install the cotter pin in the upper end.
2. Slide the shift lever onto the splined end of the shaft, and thread the pinch bolt on until it is snug.
3. Test the gearshifter to make sure they work properlu.
Step 3: Test the Shifting
Shift through all the gears, making sure that the shift lever moves smoothly and that the gears engage properly. If the shift lever is not moving smoothly or if the gears are not engaging properly, check the adjustment of the clutch/cable-drive system.
