1. Gather necessary tools and materials: new water pump, gasket, coolant, funnel, crescent wrench, adjustable wrench, socket wrench set, screwdriver, pliers, and container to catch coolant.
2. Prepare your vehicle by turning off the engine, allowing it to cool, and disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery.
3.Locate the water pump. It is usually near the front of the engine, below the thermostat housing and connected to the radiator hose.
4. Drain the coolant system by placing a container under the drain plug on the radiator and opening the plug to allow the coolant to drain.
5. Remove the serpentine belt. Use a socket wrench to loosen the belt tensioner and slip the belt off the pulleys.
6. Disconnect the water pump hoses by loosening the hose clamps with pliers and gently pulling the hoses off.
7. Loosen the water pump mounting bolts with a wrench. Be careful not to drop the bolts.
8. Remove the old water pump by carefully prying it off the engine block with a screwdriver. Be sure to remove the old gasket as well.
9. Clean the mating surface on the engine block to remove any old gasket material.
10. Place a new gasket on the engine block.
11. Position the new water pump in place.
12. Secure the water pump with the mounting bolts that were removed earlier. Tighten the bolts in a crisscross pattern.
13. Reattach the water pump hoses and secure the hose clamps.
14. Reinstall the serpentine belt and adjust the tensioner as needed.
15. Close the drain plug on the radiator.
16. Refill the coolant system with a mixture of coolant and distilled water according to the manufacturer's specifications.
17.Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
18.Start the engine, let it run for a few minutes, and check for any leaks from the water pump or the hose connections.
Once you have completed all these steps, the water pump on your 1995 Chevy Corsica should be successfully replaced.
