1. Open the trunk. There is a release lever in the driver's footwell.
2. Locate the tail light assembly. It is located on the side of the trunk, near the bumper.
3. Remove the two bolts that hold the tail light assembly in place. You will need a Phillips head screwdriver to do this.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector. There is a tab on the connector that you must press down to release it.
5. Remove the tail light assembly. You may need to use a pry tool to help you do this.
6. Install the new tail light assembly. Insert the new tail light assembly into place and reconnect the electrical connector.
7. Tighten the two bolts that hold the tail light assembly in place.
8. Close the trunk.
That's it! You have now successfully changed the rear light assembly in your 2009 Altima.
