How do you replace the windshield washer pump on a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe?

Tools and Materials:

- Replacement Windshield Washer Pump

- 10mm Wrench or Socket

- Flat-head Screwdriver

- Phillips-head Screwdriver

- Pliers

- Zip Ties

- Gloves

- Safety Glasses

Instructions:

1. Prepare the vehicle. Park the Santa Fe on a level surface, and turn off the engine. Engage the parking brake, and open the hood.

2. Locate the windshield washer fluid reservoir. The reservoir is usually located on the driver's side of the engine bay. It is a translucent plastic bottle with a blue or green cap.

3. Disconnect the electrical connector. There is an electrical connector attached to the top of the windshield washer pump. Press down on the locking tab and pull the connector straight up to disconnect it.

4. Remove the fluid hose. There is a fluid hose attached to the bottom of the windshield washer pump. Use pliers to squeeze the hose clamp and pull the hose off of the pump.

5. Remove the mounting bolts. There are two 10mm bolts that secure the windshield washer pump to the reservoir. Use a wrench or socket to remove these bolts.

6. Remove the old pump. Once the bolts are removed, you can pull the old pump straight out of the reservoir.

7. Install the new pump. Insert the new pump into the reservoir and align the mounting holes. Insert the bolts and tighten them until they are snug.

8. Reconnect the fluid hose. Attach the fluid hose to the bottom of the pump and secure it with the hose clamp.

9. Reconnect the electrical connector. Press the electrical connector onto the top of the pump until it clicks into place.

10. Test the pump. Turn on the ignition switch, and press the windshield washer button. The pump should make a whirring noise, and you should see washer fluid spraying out of the nozzles on the hood.

11. Close the hood. Once the pump is working properly, close the hood and start the engine.
