Tools and Materials Needed:
- New transmission fluid (check the owner's manual for the recommended type and quantity)
- Drain pan
- Funnel
- Wrench
- Rags
Procedure:
1. Park the vehicle on level ground and turn off the engine.
2. Locate the transmission fluid drain plug. It is typically located on the bottom of the transmission pan.
3. Place the drain pan under the drain plug.
4. Loosen the drain plug and allow the transmission fluid to drain completely into the drain pan.
5. Once the transmission fluid has drained, replace the drain plug and tighten it securely.
6. Locate the transmission fluid fill plug. It is typically located on the side of the transmission.
7. Remove the fill plug and insert the funnel.
8. Add the new transmission fluid slowly, checking the transmission fluid level with the dipstick.
9. Once the transmission fluid level is correct, replace the fill plug and tighten it securely.
10. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to circulate the new transmission fluid.
11. Recheck the transmission fluid level and adjust it if necessary.
