1. Locate the hood release handle inside your car. It's usually located near the driver's left knee.
2. Pull on the hood release handle. This should release the hood latch and allow you to open the hood.
3. If the hood latch still does not release, access the hood from the front. There is often a slot in the center-top between the hood and the bumper that you can see with a flashlight.
4. Reach your fingers or a thin tool through the slot and try to manually depress the lever release.
5. You can also try to release the hood latch by pulling up on the hood while someone else pulls on the hood release handle.
