1. Push down on the gear knob collar: There is a collar or ring surrounding the base of the gear knob. Press down on this collar while pushing the gear knob upwards. This will release the gear knob from its locked position.
2. Unscrew the gear knob: Once the collar is pushed down, you should be able to unscrew the gear knob by turning it counterclockwise. Continue unscrewing the gear knob until it is completely detached from the gear lever.
3. Remove the gear knob surround (if applicable): Some Peugeot 206 models may have a gear knob surround that needs to be removed before you can access the gear knob. To remove the surround, gently pry it up using a flat-head screwdriver or plastic pry tool. Be careful not to damage the surround or the dashboard when doing so.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector (if applicable): If your Peugeot 206 has a gear knob with integrated lighting or other electrical features, there might be an electrical connector attached to the underside of the gear knob. Disconnect this connector by gently pressing the release tab and pulling the connector apart.
5. Remove the old gear knob: Once you have disconnected the electrical connector (if applicable), you should be able to completely remove the old gear knob from the gear lever.
When installing a new gear knob, make sure to reconnect the electrical connector (if applicable) and tighten the gear knob securely to the gear lever.
