The service indicator on the 1998 Mercedes E240 is located in the instrument cluster. It appears as a small icon of a car with an exclamation point in the center.
Step 2: Turn the ignition key to position 1.
Do not start the engine.
Step 3: Press and hold the reset button.
The reset button is located on the left side of the instrument cluster, next to the odometer. Press and hold the button for at least five seconds.
Step 4: Turn the ignition key to position 0.
The service indicator should now be reset.
