How do you change a wheel bearing on 1999 mercury mountaineer?

Tools Needed:

-Lug wrench

-Jack

-Jack stands

-Socket set

-Ratchet

-Extension bar

-Hammer

-Punch

Instructions:

**1.Park the vehicle on a level surface and set the parking brake.

>

>2.Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel that has the bad wheel bearing, using lug wrench.

3.Jack the vehicle up until the tire is off the ground.

>

>4.Prop up the vehicle using the jack stands.

5.Remove the lug nuts and pull off the tire and wheel.

6.Remove the brake caliper bracket by removing the two bolts that hold it in place.

7.Pry off the brake pad and rotor with a prybar or screwdriver.

8.Remove the four bolts that hold the wheel bearing in place.

9.Knock out the old bearing from the knuckle with the hammer and punch.

>10.Install the new wheel bearing by pushing it into the knuckle by hand.

>

>11.Insert the four bolts and tighten them.

>12.Replace the brake rotor and brake pad.

>13.Replace the brake caliper bracket.

14.Put the wheel and tire back on and tighten lug nuts.

15.Lower the vehicle off the jack stands.

>16.Take the vehicle for a test drive.
