Park your Explorer on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down if it has been running.
Open the hood of your Explorer.
Locate the turn signal assembly on the front of the vehicle. It is the clear or amber-colored plastic housing that contains the turn signal bulb.
Gently pry the turn signal assembly out of its housing. There may be a small tab that you need to press in order to release the assembly.
Twist the turn signal bulb counterclockwise to remove it from the assembly.
Insert the new turn signal bulb into the assembly and turn it clockwise until it is secure.
Repeat steps 4-6 for the other front turn signal bulb.
Reinstall the turn signal assembly into its housing.
Close the hood of your Explorer.
Here are some additional tips:
Make sure that the new turn signal bulbs are the correct size and type for your vehicle.
Be careful not to drop the turn signal bulbs. They are made of glass and can break easily.
If you have any questions about replacing the turn signal bulbs on your 1998 Ford Explorer, please consult your vehicle owner's manual or a qualified mechanic.
