How do you remove front rotors from 1999 Chevrolet suburban?

How to Remove the Front Rotors on a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban

Tools and Materials Needed

-Lug wrench

-Jack and jack stands

-Breaker bar

-Socket set

-Flat-head screwdriver

- penetrating oil (optional)

1. Park the Suburban on a level surface and engage the parking brake.

2. Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels but do not remove them completely.

3. Raise the Suburban using the jack and place jack stands under the vehicle. Never work on a vehicle that is supported only by the jack.

4. Remove the lug nuts and wheels.

5. Locate the two caliper mounting bolts on the back of the caliper.

6. Remove the caliper mounting bolts and remove the caliper from the rotor.

7. If the rotor does not come off easily, you may need to use a breaker bar to pry it off. Apply penetrating oil to the lug nut threads if needed.

8. Make sure the parking brake is disengaged. Check behind the rotor to make sure the parking brake assembly can move freely as you spin the rotor. If the parking brake is engaged, pry the rotor and pads apart as you spin the rotor.

9. Remove the old rotor.

10. Install the new rotor.

11. Reinstall the caliper and caliper mounting bolts.

12. Tighten the lug nuts by hand.

13. Lower the Suburban using the jack and remove the jack stands.

14. Tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern to 90 ft-lbs.
