1. Gather Tools
- Pliers
- Flat-head screwdriver
- Spray lubricant (optional)
2. Locate the Wiper Arms
Open the hood and locate the wiper arms. They attach the wiper blade to the wiper motor.
3. Disconnect the Washer Hose
On some models, a small washer hose connects to the wiper arm, just below the pivot point. If present, gently disconnect the hose.
4. Remove Cap (if applicable)
Check the base of the wiper arm where it connects to the pivot joint. Some models may have a plastic cap covering the pivot nut. If so, pry off the cap with a flat-head screwdriver.
5. Loosen the Nut
Use the pliers to turn the pivot nut counterclockwise and loosen it.
6. Remove Wiper Arm
Once loose, lift the wiper arm straight up and off the splined shaft. If it's stuck, apply some spray lubricant to help loosen it.
7. Repeat for the Other Side
Repeat steps 3 to 6 for the other wiper arm.
8. Reattach
When you want to reattach the wiper arms, reverse the steps. Ensure the arms are positioned correctly and firmly tightened at the pivot point.
Remember, working on vehicle components can be tricky. If you are not comfortable performing this task, it's best to have it done by a qualified mechanic.
