Gather your materials and tools. You will need:
- New rubber sleeve
- Fuel injection pliers
- Flat-head screwdriver
- Pliers
- Hose clamps
- Wrench
Park your car in a well-ventilated area and turn off the engine.
Open the fuel filler door and remove the gas cap.
Locate the rubber sleeve between the fuel filler neck and the tank. It is usually located at the bottom of the fuel filler neck.
Use the pliers to loosen and remove the hose clamps that hold the rubber sleeve in place.
Pull the old rubber sleeve off of the fuel filler neck and the tank.
Inspect the fuel filler neck and the tank for any damage. If there is any damage, it will need to be repaired before you can install the new rubber sleeve.
Install the new rubber sleeve by pushing it onto the fuel filler neck and the tank.
Replace the hose clamps that you removed in step 4.
Tighten the hose clamps until they are snug.
Close the fuel filler door and replace the gas cap.
