Tools & Materials Needed:

- New Brake Pads

- Brake Grease

- C-Clamp

- Flat-head Screwdriver

- Safety Glasses

- Gloves

Step 1: Park the Car on a Level Surface

- Engage the parking brake

- Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down

Step 2: Loosen the Lug Nuts

- Use the lug wrench to loosen (but don’t remove) the lug nuts on the wheel that corresponds to the side where you’ll be changing the brake pads.

Step 3: Jack Up the Car

- Position a jack under the vehicle’s frame, near the wheel you’re working on.

- Slowly jack up the car until the tire is off the ground.

- Place a jack stand under the vehicle to support its weight.

Step 4: Remove the Lug Nuts

- Use the lug wrench to completely remove the lug nuts and set them aside.

Step 5: Remove the Wheel

- Slide the wheel off the hub.

Step 6: Remove the Caliper

- Locate the brake caliper, which is usually mounted to the wheel hub with two bolts.

- Remove the bolts using a ratchet and socket.

- Once removed, support the caliper with a bungee cord or wire.

Step 7: Remove the Old Brake Pads

- Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry out the old brake pads from the caliper housing.

Step 8: Clean the Caliper

- Use a wire brush to clean any dirt, grime, or rust from the caliper.

Step 9: Apply Brake Grease

- Place a small amount of brake grease on the back of the new brake pads.

- This helps prevent squealing.

Step 10: Insert New Brake Pads

- Slide in the new brake pads, ensuring that they are seated correctly in the caliper housing.

Step 11: Reattach the Caliper

- Reposition the caliper over the brake pads and screw the bolts back into place.

Step 12: Put the Wheel Back

- Slide the wheel back onto the hub.

- Replace the lug nuts and tighten them using the lug wrench.

Step 13: Lower the Car

- Slowly lower the car using the jack.

- Remove the jack stand.

Step 14: Tighten the Lug Nuts

- Once the car is back on the ground, tighten the lug nuts with the lug wrench.

Step 15: Test the Brakes

- Before moving your car, gently apply pressure on the brake pedal.

- This ensures that the brakes are functioning correctly.
