Tools and Materials Needed
- Phillips-head screwdriver
- Flat-head screwdriver
- New door lock assembly
- Key
Instructions
1. Remove the inner door panel.
- Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screws holding the door panel in place.
- Carefully pry the door panel off the door, using the flat-head screwdriver if needed.
2. Disconnect the door lock linkage.
- Locate the door lock linkage, which is a metal rod that connects the door lock to the door handle.
- Disconnect the linkage by unhooking it from the door lock and door handle.
3. Remove the old door lock.
- Use the Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screws holding the door lock in place.
- Pull the door lock out of the door.
4. Install the new door lock.
- Insert the new door lock into the door.
- Secure the new door lock using the screws that you removed in the previous step.
5. Reconnect the door lock linkage.
- Reattach the door lock linkage to the door lock and door handle.
6. Test the new door lock.
- Insert the key into the new door lock and turn it to make sure that the door lock is working properly.
7. Reinstall the inner door panel.
- Reattach the inner door panel by snapping it back into place.
- Secure the door panel using the screws that you removed in the first step.
Your door lock should now be working properly.
