To bypass the ignition switch on a 1996 Nissan Maxima:
1. Locate the ignition switch on the steering column.
2. Remove the plastic cover around the ignition switch.
3. Disconnect the electrical connections from the ignition switch.
4. Find the two wires that connect to the ignition switch (usually red and black).
5. Connect the red wire to the black wire. This will bypass the ignition switch and allow the car to start.
6. Start the car.
7. Replace the plastic cover around the ignition switch.
8. Reconnect the electrical connections.
NOTE: This is only a temporary solution and it is not recommended to drive your car with the ignition switch bypassed. You should get your car to a qualified mechanic as soon as possible to have the ignition switch repaired or replaced.
