1. Gather the necessary tools and materials.
- New brake pads
- C-Clamp
- Flat-head screwdriver
- Socket wrench
- Jack and jack stands
2. Prepare your vehicle.
- Park your vehicle on a level surface and put the parking brake on.
- Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
- If you have hubcaps, use the socket wrench to remove them.
- Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels, but do not remove them completely.
3. Jack up your vehicle.
- Place the jack under the vehicle frame, near the front wheel that you are working on.
- Jack the vehicle up until the tire is off the ground.
- Secure the vehicle with the jack stands.
4. Remove the front wheel.
- Use the socket wrench to remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
5. Locate the brake caliper.
- The brake caliper is located behind the wheel, on the front side of the rotor.
6. Remove the brake caliper.
- Use the flat head screwdriver to pry the dust boots off the guide pins.
- Remove the guide pins with the socket wrench.
- Gently lift the brake caliper off the rotor and hang it out of the way with zip ties or bungee cords.
7. Remove the old brake pads.
- The old brake pads are held in place by two metal clips. Use the flat head screw to pry the clips off.
- Once the clips are removed, you can slide the old brake pads out of the caliper.
8. Clean the brake caliper.
- Use a brake cleaner to clean the inside of the brake caliper.
- Ensure the surface of the caliper where the pads make contact is free from dirt or debris.
9. Install the new brake pads.
- Slide the new brake pads into the caliper.
- Make sure that the pads are seated properly and that the metal clips are snapped into place.
10. Reinstall the brake caliper.
- Gently raise the brake caliper back over the rotor.
- Replace the guide pins and dust boots.
11. Tighten the lug nuts.
- Reinstall the wheel and tighten the lug nuts.
12. Lower your vehicle.
- Carefully lower the vehicle using the jack stands.
13. Repeat the process for the other front wheel.
14. Test the brakes.
- Before driving, test the brakes to make sure they are working properly.
15. Dispose of old brake pads in accordance with local regulations.
