Locate the IAC module: Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down. The IAC module is usually attached to the throttle body, which is located on the side of the engine near the firewall. It's a cylindrical component with an electrical connector attached to it.
Disconnect the electrical connector: Disconnect the electrical connector from the IAC module by gently pressing on the release tab and pulling the connector straight out. Be careful not to damage the connector or terminals.
Remove the IAC module mounting screws: Using the appropriate wrench or screwdriver, loosen and remove the screws holding the IAC module to the throttle body.
Remove the IAC module: Once the screws are removed, gently lift and remove the IAC module from the throttle body. Be careful not to drop or damage the module.
Clean the throttle body: Take the opportunity to clean the throttle body around where the IAC module was installed using a throttle body cleaner and a clean rag if needed.
Install the new IAC module: Place the new IAC module in the throttle body, making sure to align the mounting screw holes properly. Secure the IAC module with the screws removed earlier.
Reconnect the electrical connector: Plug the electrical connector back onto the IAC module securely by pushing it until it clicks into place.
Start the vehicle: Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Observe the idle speed to ensure that the IAC module is functioning correctly.
Test the idle air control module: To test the IAC module, you can turn the steering wheel from lock to lock while the engine is running. The IAC module should adjust the idle speed accordingly.
Reset the ECU (optional): Some recommend disconnecting the battery for a few minutes to allow the ECU (Engine Control Unit) to relearn and adjust to the new IAC module.
