Note: Make sure you have the appropriate tools and safety equipment before attempting this procedure.
1. Park the vehicle in a safe location and apply the parking brake.
2. Loosen the lug nuts on the rear wheels but do not remove them completely.
3. Use a jack and jack stands to safely raise the rear of the vehicle.
4. Remove the lug nuts and wheels from the rear.
5. Locate the rear brake caliper on the wheel hub.
6. Use a C-clamp or a special caliper tool to compress the caliper pistons back into the caliper body.
- Place the C-clamp or tool between the caliper piston and the brake pad.
- Slowly turn the screw or handle of the C-clamp or tool to compress the piston.
7. Continue compressing the piston until it is fully seated in the caliper body.
8. Once the piston is fully compressed, remove the C-clamp or tool.
9. Reinstall the wheels and lug nuts, and tighten them securely.
10. Lower the vehicle using the jack and jack stands.
11. Release the parking brake and test the brakes to make sure they are functioning properly.
