1. Park the vehicle on level ground.
2. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position.
3. Press the parking brake pedal three times.
4. Release the parking brake pedal.
5. Measure the distance between the top of the parking brake lever and the floorboard. The distance should be between 15mm (0.590551 in) and 30mm (1.181102 in).
6. If the distance is not within the specified range, adjust the parking brake as follows:
- Locate the parking brake cable equalizer under the vehicle.
- Loosen the locknut on the equalizer.
- Turn the adjusting nut until the distance between the top of the parking brake lever and the floorboard is within the specified range.
- Tighten the locknut.
7. Check that the parking brake is holding the vehicle securely by applying the parking brake and trying to move the vehicle forward and backward.
