Instructions:
1. Park your car on a level surface and turn off the engine. Engage the parking brake.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Raise the front of the car with the jack and place the jack stands under the car for safety.
4. Locate the alternator. It is usually mounted on the front of the engine, near the top.
5. Remove the serpentine belt. To do this, use a wrench to loosen the tensioner pulley bolt and then remove the belt from the pulleys.
6. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the alternator. There are usually two or three connectors.
7. Remove the mounting bolts that hold the alternator in place. There are usually two or three bolts.
8. Lift the alternator out of the engine compartment.
9. To install the new alternator, reverse the steps above. Be sure to tighten the mounting bolts securely and reconnect the electrical connectors.
10. Start the engine and check the alternator output voltage. It should be between 13.5 and 14.5 volts.
