- New Windshield Wipers
- A Flat-Head Screwdriver
Locate the windshield wiper arms - the arms which hold the wiper blades in place.
Turn off the ignition of the car and then operate the windshield wiper control lever to raise the wiper arms so that the wiper blades stand straight up.
Locate the small hook at the base of the wiper blade closest to the windshield.
Depress the small hook with the flat head screwdriver and remove the wiper blade by sliding it off the arm.
Insert the new wiper blade onto the arm by sliding it into the same slot from which you removed the old wiper blade. Make sure the blade slides on all the way until the hook pops up over the blade end to secure it.
Press down on the wiper arm to lower the wipers back to the windshield and you're done!
Tips
- Always try to replace the windshield wipers when they start streaking or chattering and not before, it is cheaper to replace wiper blades versus the windshield.
- Windshield wipers should not be replaced unless they show actual signs of wear and tear.
- Replace windshield wiper blades about every six to twelve months.
- Check your owner's manual to make sure you buy the correct size of windshield wiper blade for your car model and year.
