Will you need piston rings after fix blown head gasket?

Whether or not new piston rings are required after fixing a blown head gasket depends on the extent of the damage caused by the blown gasket. If, as is often the case, the engine overheats due to coolant loss from the blown gasket, the piston rings may have been damaged or warped.

In this situation, it is highly recommended to replace the piston rings along with the head gasket, to ensure that the engine will function properly and avoid any future problems.

However, if the blown head gasket did not cause significant damage or overheating, it may not be necessary to replace the piston rings, and a thorough inspection of the engine can be done to determine if they are still in good condition.
