1. Park the truck on level ground and engage the parking brake.
2. Chock the wheels to prevent the truck from rolling.
3. Locate the fifth wheel adjustment mechanism. This is usually located on the top of the fifth wheel, near the front of the truck.
4. Loosen the lock nuts on the adjustment mechanism.
5. Use a wrench to turn the adjustment screws in or out to adjust the height of the fifth wheel.
6. Tighten the lock nuts to secure the adjustment in place.
7. Test the adjustment by hitching up to a trailer and checking the clearance between the top of the trailer and the bottom of the fifth wheel.
Additional tips:
- Make sure to adjust the fifth wheel evenly on both sides.
- If you are not comfortable making this adjustment yourself, you can take your truck to a qualified mechanic.
- Always refer to the owner's manual for specific instructions on how to adjust the fifth wheel on your Volvo truck.
