Kia Certified Pre-Owned Program

If you are shopping for a used Kia, the Kia certified pre-owned (CPO) program is one of the industry’s better ones. Qualifying Kia vehicles are recent model-year cars and SUVs. They have submitted to a careful inspection by a factory-trained tech. They also have a clean vehicle history report.

What We Like

Long powertrain coverage; rental-car allowance during covered repairs

What We Don’t

$50 deductible for each covered repair visit; $40 fee for transferring coverage to another owner

Program Specifics

When it comes to evaluating CPO programs, one of the top considerations is the extra warranty coverage. In terms of long-term protection, Kia backs their CPO vehicles with the remainder of the 5-year/60,000-mile limited basic warranty and 10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty starting from the original purchase date and mileage, plus 1-year/12,000-mile “Comprehensive Platinum Coverage” starting on the CPO purchase date and mileage. Towing/rental/travel assistance and a 90-day SiriusXM subscription are also included.

Kia does require a $50 deductible for each covered repair visit.

To qualify for CPO, Kia insists a car or SUV is no more than 5 years old with fewer than 60,000 miles on the odometer. It also must have a clean vehicle history report. A Kia-trained technician then performs a 165-point inspection of the vehicle. Any issues discovered during that inspection are repaired or replaced using factory parts.

Additional perks include 24-hour roadside assistance, up to 10 days car-rental allowance of $35 per day during covered repairs, limited trip-interruption reimbursement, and a 3-month satellite-radio subscription.

Should you sell your CPO Kia, Kia certified pre-owned coverage is transferable to another individual for a $40 fee. Considering the powertrain warranty and the extra perks, Kia CPO is a pretty good deal. Find a certified pre-owned Kia for sale.
