1. Park your vehicle on a flat, level surface.
2. Turn off the engine and let it cool down completely.
3. Open the hood of your car.
4. Locate the oil pan. It is underneath the engine, and is usually black in color.
5. The oil filter is located near the bottom of the oil pan, on the passenger side of the car.
6. It is a cylindrical-shaped object, and is usually black in color.
7. To remove the oil filter, use an oil filter wrench to loosen it and turn it counterclockwise until it comes off.
8. Be careful not to spill any oil.
9. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
10. Screw the new oil filter on by hand until it is snug.
11. Tighten the oil filter using an oil filter wrench, but do not overtighten it.
12. Close the hood of your car.
