Step 1: Empty the transfer tank.
- Use a siphon or pump to remove all of the diesel from the tank.
- Be sure to do this in a well-ventilated area.
Step 2: Rinse the tank with clean water.
- Use a garden hose or pressure washer to rinse the inside of the tank with clean water.
- Swish the water around in the tank to loosen up any remaining diesel or dye.
Step 3: Add a degreaser to the tank.
- Add a degreaser to the tank according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Let the degreaser sit in the tank for the amount of time specified by the manufacturer.
Step 4: Rinse the tank again with clean water.
- Use a garden hose or pressure washer to rinse the inside of the tank with clean water.
- Be sure to rinse all of the degreaser out of the tank.
Step 5: Dry the tank.
- Use a clean cloth or towel to dry the inside of the tank.
Step 6: Add new diesel to the tank.
- Add new diesel to the tank and start the engine.
- Let the engine run for a few minutes to circulate the diesel.
Step 7: Check for any residual dye.
- After the engine has been running for a few minutes, check the diesel for any residual dye.
- If there is still dye present, repeat steps 2-6.
