1. Park your Wrangler in a well-ventilated area. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
2. Locate the fuel tank. It is located under the rear of the Wrangler.
3. Remove the fuel tank skid plate. This will give you access to the fuel tank.
4. Inspect the fuel tank for any holes or leaks. If you find a leak, mark the location with a piece of chalk.
5. Clean the area around the leak with a degreaser. This will help the sealant adhere properly.
6. Apply a fuel tank sealant to the leak. Be sure to follow the directions on the sealant package.
7. Allow the sealant to dry according to the package directions.
8. Reinstall the fuel tank skid plate.
9. Start the Wrangler and check for any leaks. If you still see a leak, repeat steps 4-8.
Here are some additional tips for fixing a fuel tank leak:
- If the leak is small, you may be able to patch it with a piece of duct tape. Be sure to clean the area around the leak thoroughly before applying the duct tape.
- If the leak is large, you will need to replace the fuel tank.
- When working on the fuel tank, be sure to take precautions to avoid sparks or flames. Fuel is highly flammable, and any sparks or flames could cause a fire.
