How do you remove the door panel of a VW golf to fix exterior mirror?

To remove the door panel of a VW Golf to fix an exterior mirror, you will need the following tools:

- A Phillips head screwdriver

- A flat head screwdriver

- A T25 Torx screwdriver

- A pry tool

1. Remove the door panel screws. There are two screws that hold the door panel in place. One is located at the bottom of the door panel, near the kick panel. The other is located on the side of the door panel, near the door handle. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove these screws.

2. Remove the door lock knob. Pull the door lock knob out of the door panel. It may be necessary to use a flat head screwdriver to pry the knob out.

3. Remove the window crank handle. Use a flat head screwdriver to pry the window crank handle off of the door panel.

4. Remove the door handle trim. Use a pry tool to pry the door handle trim off of the door panel.

5. Remove the door panel. Once all of the screws and trim pieces have been removed, you can remove the door panel by pulling it straight up. Start by pulling up on the bottom edge of the door panel, then work your way up the sides.

6. Disconnect the door panel wiring. There are a few wires that connect the door panel to the rest of the car. Disconnect these wires by pressing on the tabs that hold them in place.

7. Remove the exterior mirror. Once the door panel is removed, you can remove the exterior mirror by unscrewing the bolts that hold it in place. Use a T25 Torx screwdriver to remove these bolts.

8. Install the new exterior mirror. Insert the new exterior mirror into the door panel and screw it into place.

9. Reconnect the door panel wiring. Reconnect the wires that you disconnected in step 6.

10. Reinstall the door panel. Reinstall the door panel by pushing it down into place. Start by pushing down on the top edge of the door panel, then work your way down the sides.

11. Reinstall the door panel screws. Reinstall the two screws that you removed in step 1.

12. Reinstall the door lock knob. Insert the door lock knob into the door panel and push it in until it clicks into place.

13. Reinstall the window crank handle. Insert the window crank handle into the door panel and push it in until it clicks into place.

14. Reinstall the door handle trim. Reinstall the door handle trim by pushing it onto the door panel until it snaps into place.

Your door panel is now removed and you can now fix the exterior mirror.
