1. Open the door on the driver's side.
2. Search for the hood release cord which should be located under the dashboard, on the driver's side.
3. Once found, pull the release cord to release the hood.
4. Use both hands to raise and open the hood while you are outside of the Trans Am.
Option B: Open the Trans Am hood from the inside:
1. Once inside, locate the hood release lever. The lever for a 1978 Trans Am is usually a black or chrome handle located under the dashboard, near the driver's door.
2. Pull the release lever. This should release the hood latch and allow the hood to be opened.
3. Exit the Trans Am and lift the hood using both hands.
If the hood still does not open, you may need to have a mechanic take a look at the hood latch or cable to determine if there are any issues.
