1. Disconnect the battery. This will prevent any electrical shocks while you are working.
2. Locate the distributor cap. It is a black plastic cover located at the front of the engine, just below the spark plugs.
3. Remove the screws that hold the distributor cap in place. There are usually two or three screws.
4. Lift off the distributor cap. Be careful not to drop the rotor, which is located inside the cap.
5. Inspect the rotor and distributor cap for any damage or wear. If either is damaged, it will need to be replaced.
6. To remove the rotor, simply pull it straight up. It is held in place by a small spring.
7. Inspect the rotor for any damage or wear. If it is damaged, it will need to be replaced.
8. To reinstall the rotor, simply press it down into place. Make sure that it is seated properly.
9. Reinstall the distributor cap. Make sure that it is seated properly and that the screws are tightened securely.
10. Reconnect the battery.
