* Socket wrenches
* Flat-head screwdriver
* Phillips head screwdriver
* Belt tensioner tool
Instructions:
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the serpentine belt.
3. Remove the splash shield underneath the vehicle if equipped.
4. Unscrew the upper and lower alternator bolts using the proper size socket wrench.
5. Remove the electrical connector that connects to the backside of the alternator.
6. Using a flat-head screwdriver, pry off the alternator’s dust cap.
7. Remove the nut behind the dust cap using a socket wrench.
8. Remove the alternator from the vehicle.
Reinstallation:
1. Place the alternator in position.
2. Insert the bolt through the alternator and into the bracket.
3. Hand-tighten the nut until it is snug.
4. Use a socket wrench to tighten the nut.
5. Reinstall the dust cap.
6. Reinstall the electrical connector.
7. Reinstall the lower alternator bolt.
8. Reinstall the upper alternator bolt.
9. Reinstall the serpentine belt.
10. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
