Tesco plans for free electric car charging points

There was some good news for electric vehicle drivers at the end of November. Tesco announced they would be introducing free charging for electric cars available for customers at some stores from next year. They are planning to partner with VW to install almost 2,500 chargers across their stores by 2020.

The event will take place on Friday the 7th, Saturday 8th, Sunday 9th of June 2019, and will be held once again at Silverstone.

UK renewable energy capacity surpasses fossil fuels for the first time

The capacity of renewable energy has overtaken that of fossil fuels in the UK for the first time. A milestone that experts said would have been unthinkable a few years ago. In the past five years, the amount of renewable capacity has tripled while fossil fuels’ has fallen by one-third, as power stations reached the end of their life or became uneconomic.

Ministers told to ‘make life easier for electric vehicle owners’

MP called for the current law to be amended to create an industry standard for electric vehicle charging in the UK.  A bill was presented for electric vehicles (Standardised Recharging) in the House of Commons this week. It included a single connector type and universal access to charge points.

New look Kia Soul EV debuts in LA

Kia has pulled the covers off its new Soul EV at the 2018 Los Angeles motor show. The new model was showcased in a funky new colour, has an updated design along with new technology. The vehicle driving range is yet to be announced (expected early 2019), but we know the powertrain has been updated and it now shares the same 64 kWh battery as the Kia e-Niro and the Hyundai Kona.
