The Mini Electric has been revealed at the brand’s 60th anniversary celebrations in Oxford. The new pure-electric hatchback will have the performance of a Cooper S, with zero-tailpipe emissions, and a range of up to 144 miles (WLTP) on a single charge.

HMRC has taken notice of the advice from the fleet industry and announced that electric vehicles will have 0% Benefit in Kind company car tax rates from 2020. This is great news for fleets and for company car drivers.

On 1st July the eligibility criteria for the OLEV (Office for Low Emission Vehicles) home charger grant changed and now only covers the installation of a ‘smart’ charger’. Previously electric car owners could apply for this government grant of £500 or 75% of the total cost of a ‘smart’ or ‘dumb’ home charge point.

The Electric Nation smart charging trial recruited almost 700 EV owners, with more than 40 different makes and models of plug-in vehicles, including battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) with a selection of battery sizes. The project monitored participants’ charging habits to gather data on plug-in behaviour including frequency, length and amount of energy consumed.
