2020 is the 4th year Clean Air Day has taken place. The purpose of the Clean Air Day campaign is to improve everyone’s understanding of air pollution and raise awareness on how it affects our health. Over 36,000 people in the UK die every year as a result of poor air quality and The World Health Organisation recognise air pollution to be the largest environmental risk we face today. With air pollution on the rise, it’s now more important than ever that we do our bit to make a difference to the world we live in, even just a small contribution makes a difference.
Give your car a day off
– walk, cycle, take public transport or work from home instead.
Get to school without the car
– if you live close enough try walking or cycling to school with friends
Avoid burning at home
Don’t idle your engine
– if you haven’t made the switch to electric yet, then turn off your engine when idle for more than 10 second. This can save both money and reduce air pollution levels (restarting your car does not burn more fuel than leaving it idling).
Work from home
– we know this isn’t an option for everyone and a lot of the UK are already doing this, but if you’re not already and are able to work from home, give it a go.

This one made us smile; its DriveElectric yellow, an innovative project and completely made from waste products. Luca was built by a group of students at Eindhoven University in the Netherlands who produced the car entirely out of waste products, including plastic recovered from the ocean. Other waste materials include horse hair, coconut fibres and flax.
Renault preview a new model set to go into production in 2021. The popular hatchback Megane will be getting revamped with a new design and soon be available in an all electric version.
The new ev will be based on the carmakers new platform and the styling of this new concept shows hints and similarities to the exciting Morphez concept which was Renault revealed earlier this year. Renault boss, Luca de Meo, said at the debut of the new concept that the platform has ‘broken the rules of size, use and design.’ He adds that ‘a whole family of new vehicles will be based on this new platform’.
Recently Tesla added a full self drive beta update which works on non-motorway local roads in the united states… well only to some customers. Selected customers were able to test full self drive beta updated which is a huge step forward in autonomous driving. You can watch a demonstration clip of full self driving from an early tester in the video to the side.
According to Musk, the update will take the feature from 2D to “4D,” meaning that the vehicle will be able to not only sense the three-dimensional world around it, but also predict changes in factors like location, direction, and speed.
We have another affordable EV to look forward to as pricing and specifications have been revealed for the new Fiat 500 Electric. The new EV will start from under £20,000 (after the plug in car grant) and will be heading our way and available to lease in 2021. The iconic city car will be available in 2 battery sizes 24 kWh and 42 kWh with the largest version offering a range of around 200 miles. Fiat 500 electric will be offered in both hatchback and cabriolet options and will be the first 4 seater, fully electric convertible on the market. Currently the Smart Fortwo cabriolet is available as an electric car – but as you would expect from the name – is a two seater!
