- Allen key
- Phillips-head screwdriver
- Flat-head screwdriver
Procedure:
1. Start by locating the idle adjustment screw. This is usually located on the side of the carburetor, near where the throttle cable connects.
2. Use the Allen key to loosen the locknut on the idle adjustment screw.
3. Use the Phillips-head screwdriver to turn the idle adjustment screw clockwise to increase the idle speed, or counterclockwise to decrease it.
4. Once you have reached the desired idle speed, tighten the locknut to hold the adjustment in place.
5. Use the flat-head screwdriver to adjust the throttle stop screw, which is located on the throttle body. This screw limits how far the throttle can open, and can be used to fine-tune the idle speed.
6. Once the idle is adjusted to your liking, reconnect the air intake hose and start the engine. Check to make sure the engine is idling properly before turning it off.
